My 2016 in Music

Another year, another playlist.

Spotify came up with something new this year, offering its users an overview of their most listened songs and albums. It was no surprise to see that Rihanna topped my playlist. Her album ANTI was an addiction from the time it came out. I never listened to her earlier stuff but, as mentioned in 2015, since her album Talk That Talk in 2012 I have become more of a fan. ANTI particularly officially won me over. Unapologetic really set the way for ANTI, she wasn't going to apologise for no shit then and she sure isn't now. Every song oozes a distinct vibe with the underlying seductive tone. I love the album as a whole but favourites are Needed Me, Sex With Me (amazingly blunt and fun at the same time), Work (for the island shout out), Same Ol' Mistakes and Pose. Ok that's my fav album but I did occasionally allowed myself to listen to other artists so here it is:

Radiohead- A Moon Shaped Pool is absolutely amazing

Gorillaz- D-sides

ABRA- Princess

RY X- Dawn

Sylvan Esso- No album in particular, just love them

Meshell Ndegeocello- Only recently discovered her but liked what I heard from her so far

Ariana Grande- Jason's Song (Gave It Away). I don't listen to her music but saw her perform this song with The Roots on SNL and loved it

Amerie- I hadn't listened to her in years until one of her songs came on to one of my playlists and I spent the rest of the afternoon listening to her less well-known tunes.

Pumarosa- Pumarosa

BORNS- Dopamine

Angus & Julia Stone- All of their stuff

Willow-ARDIPITHECUS. This came about very randomly but I'm glad I gave her a listen

Laura Mvula- The Dreaming Room

Fat Freddy's Drop- BAYS

The Strokes- Is This It

Snoop Dogg- Doggystyle

Justin Bieber- Sorry. Listen, I ain't ashamed of anything so I am saying it: I, too, was a little bit obsessed with this song last summer. Who doesn't like a good apology song.

BONOBO- Everything they do! I love them

Drake Ft Rihanna- Too Good. I love the island feel of that song

Salute- Gold Rush and My Heart

Izzy Bizu- A Moment Of Madness

Nightmares on Wax- Ground Floor

Lianne La Havas- Blood

Glass Animals- How To Be A Human Being, older tunes too

Solange- A Seat At The Table (A-mazing!)
